Swagga-Muffin Does Jamaica

My younger (although taller) sister came to visit us on the 20th and what Jamaica had in mind for her stay wasn’t exactly what any of us could have predicted.  Due to the Peace Corps’ TLC, we’ve been kicking around ye olde Comfort Castle for the better part of 2 weeks and it’s been raining on us–cats and dogs–so, we’ve been cooped up in our lovely abode for the better part of that better part of 2 weeks.

As you can see, we ventured out a few times and were very glad we did!

Frenchman’s Cove twice (because we’ve earned it)
Dry River Falls
the river multiple times
up to Chez Garth for Sunday night movies (twice)

We’ve eaten a lot of great food–indulgent food. Comfort food for our “lock down.”
We’ve chatted a lot, read some, watched movies, smoked and drank and got crazy.
We’ve re-crafted with glass, plastic and paper.
Also, we’ve had a warden meeting at the house, with a record number of people in our house any given time.

Yeah, we had to miss Calabash Literary Fest. Dangit.
Our Close of Service has been postponed and so has another weekend of PCJ meetings.
Truth be told, a few things are up in the air right now.
Sammi had to postpone her flight for a couple of days.

But it’s been good, quality time I’d say.

She’s gotten a really good cross-section of our day-to-day life here and that’s what she wanted, at least in theory! :)

After a lot of time sitting around, staring at each other, wondering when the rain will stop, I don’t really want her to go yet. I’m not ready yet!
Isn’t that always how it is?

I’ll see her in a few short months though, right? I’ll be seeing LOTS of people in a couple months!

So that’s the next agenda item–Getting physically and mentally ready for lift off.
Less than 2 months left in our Peace Corps service and we’re not even packed! Haha.

By the way, we three girls brainstormed for our future Roller Derby careers. Our favorite names were:

Samantha–SwaggaMuffin or Daisy Mae-hem
Shannon–Shan-Pain or Shandalous
Jesse–JypseOCrash (of course!)
